Marcus Marritt is a Glasgow-based illustrator focusing on a minimal approach to both form and colour. Originally working on the client side in creative services, Marcus’ love of illustration saw him make the move to creating work full time. Marcus often uses a restrained colour palette, focusing on light and shadow to create a body of cohesive and unique work.

Recent clients include ASOS, Weetabix, Vango, the FA, Visit Scotland, Barclays, Chelsea FC, BT Sport, Deliveroo, Oreo, Blackberry, British GQ, Wired and The Wall Street Journal.

Marcus Marritt was commissioned by the lovely team at Leith agency in Edinburgh to create a series of posters for Skills Development Scotland.

The campaign, ‘New Directions’ was a showcase for new jobs available in Scotland for those embarking on a their career, and those looking for a new one.

Illustrator Marcus Marritt was commissioned by the New Scientist to create both the cover as well as a feature image in the latest issue of the publication.

‘A New Dawn for Physics’ was the theme of the issue with a special on the Large Hadron Collider. Marcus brought his keen eye for composition and a restricted use of colour to create strikingly graphic images.

Books By The Sea is a new initiative providing reading material to coastal communities. 

Inspired by Little Free Library, Books By The Sea has a miniature free libraries dotted around the North East. Marcus was commissioned to create a series of images for the initiative in his trademark graphic style, using books as the inspiration.

Whilst the Pride Month of June is usually jam packed of parades and other special events across the world, this year has been a little different due to coronavirus. Marcus is well-known for this architectural work and has created a striking piece encouraging us to stay at home and stay safe!
