Daniel Stier
ABOUT
Daniel Stier is a photographer and director originally from Germany, but now based in London. Working across photography genres, he creates rigorous studio environments imbuing his work with a scientific, almost clinical feeling. He constantly plays with this scientific approach to lead the viewer through an ambiguous journey of ‘truths’ and ‘mistruths’. The almost detached lens through which Daniel views his subject (whether people or object) creates a unique and inimitable folio of work where discovery is paramount to the viewer.
Daniel has published a book ‘Ways of Knowing’ and has had his work featured in Wallpaper*, It’s Nice That, The Telegraph, Der Grief, The New York Times and Spiegel to name but a few.
Recent clients include Barclays, Volkswagen, Skoda, SONY, Orange, Norwegian, Virgin Media, Harvey Nichols and Budweiser.
Recent Work

Daniel Stier was recently commissioned to shoot Lord and Lady Carnarvon at their home, Highclere Castle, for FAZ Magazin.
One hundred years ago the late Lord Carnarvon financed Howard Carter to dig in Egypt to eventually find Tutankhamen’s tomb – a number of these artefacts remain in the castle basement.

Daniel Stier has been adding to his portfolio of still-life photography, shooting an accessories story for 10 Magazine.
Part of their ’10 Commandments’ series, the shoot showcases this season’s must have accessories against playfully constructed sets which pitch luxury items against repurposed and found items. Photography and sets by Daniel Stier, fashion by Sophia Neophitou.
